Good Food

So after all that cleaning I decided that Robert deserved a good hardy meal so today I made fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, and asparagus. I have never fried chicken before but it turned out great. As you can see Scott was here to help consume the food.

Deep Cleaning

Usually, Robert and I clean our carpets every 6 months (the water treatment plant across the road from us has been doing construction for like 4 yeas now and it can get pretty dusty and we tract in a lot of dirt) but this year we never got around to it until now. I thought I wold show you just how bad our carpets had gotten. (I am ashamed I let it get this bad, but please don't think we are dirty people.)

So this weekend one of my roommates from St. George, UT, Kelli, came to San Diego to visit. Among doing many things we had our picture taken by a very famous statue. You can't tell in the picture of us, but the statue is huge, we only go up to the nurses feet.

Candy Corn

So you would think that with it being Halloween and all there would be huge amounts of Candy Corn in the stores. Well think again. I had to go to 3 different stores and finally at the last store I had to dig through all their candy and only found one bag of candy corn. I mean, really people, this only comes out once a year; you would think that they would produce tons of this stuff cause it is so good and obviously it is a high demand. Needless to say the search took forever but that one bag didn't last me long especially with exams.

Reason proves that if I treat apples and bananas 100% equal, I’m not going to get equal results. Why? Say my mom packs me a school lunch because I’m brown baggin it to school today. Inside my brown lunch sack she puts a ripe apple and a ripe banana. Ok, so far 100% equal treatment, right?

As I run to the bus stop, I shove my brown bag into my book bag. Ok, so far 100% equal treatment, right?

After a bumpy bus ride, I get to school and rush to my class. I take my seat seconds before the bell rings and I shove my book bag under my chair. Ok, so far, still 100% equal treatment, right?

You’ve had a ripe banana, yes? What happens during the day as I repeatedly bounce from class to class and shove that bag under my chair? Although both the apple and the banana are treated 100% equally, the banana is not designed like the apple and it easily gets bruised and turns into a brown mush. You already know how fast ripe bananas get brown!

No matter how much that banana screams to be treated equal to the apple…

No matter how many times that banana calls me a biggot, bananaphobe, or rips my yard sign up that says apples do better in my lunch bag…(see below for how the story ends)

Laws of nature, outside my control, dictate that the results will always be different because an apple will never be a banana and vice versa. See, isn’t reason sweet? =)

Let’s reason together: Heterosexuals and homosexuals ( I like to call the term same-sexuals) are DIFFERENT! One is a man + a woman and the other is either man+man or woman+woman. THESE ARE NOT ALL APPLES!! There are 3 totally different relationships going on here. Marriage IS THE TERM describing the relationship between the man and the woman.

If you know to stop at a red light, you’d agree it’s unreasonable to say to your child would you like an apple or an apple when you’re holding up 1 apple and 1 banana!!

For a changing society, we need NEW TERMS to describe the types of relationships people have the free choice to form – not new laws that will put us all in speech & religious bondage.

If the opponents to Prop. 8 were really interested in defining their relationships, they would be lobbying for their own definition, their own term of their relationship rather than trying to force it from something else. Evidence is here now and it is mounting that the struggle of Prop. 8 is NOT about marriage per se it is everything about American freedom…your, mine, and our same-sexual friends.

(BTW, the apple and the banana realize I think they both are sweet, but always different, so they live in peace and harmony and freedom ever after.)

It is freedom that is under attack, your freedom!

10/18/2008 - Charlotte and I went to an organic farm that puts on a fall festivals.The community brings dishes to share while the farm makes pizzas in their outdoor brick oven. That night they had authentic American Indian ceremony.

YES ON PROPOSITION 8 in California

PLEASE READ THIS no matter what state you live in.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children. If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive 'age appropriate' information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches. The court's decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs. Including adoption agencies.

A YES vote will not hurt gays. In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

A father in Massachusetts was frustrated when his twin kindergartners were taught about homosexuality at school by the teachers. He insisted he be notified in the future before such things were discussed so he could pull his boys out of school. He was taken to jail. Click Here for the story.

A Catholic adoption agency In the UK closed their doors because of the Government's new homosexual equality laws. The Equality Act forbids discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the basis of sexual orientation. The law was forced through Parliament last year despite past Prime Minister Tony Blair's recommendation that Catholic adoption agencies be exempted from the rules. Earlier this month judges in Conneticut overturned the state law (just as the judges in California did) to legalized gay marriage. This is not just an issue in California. We voted years ago to keep traditional marriage as the only marriage recognized in the state of California, 4 judges overturned our vote…and we need to fight back.

That is what this Proposition is about. This is happening everywhere and the leaders of the church and others have warned that the outcome of California's vote will affect the way the other states vote. So PLEASE…even if you don't live in California, put this on your blog or email this on. The internet knows no state line. You know contacts in California that I don't…and so do your friends. Please pass this on as it could eventually have an effect on everyone!

Really, A Tarantula

Robert has school late on Mondays and gets home about 8:30pm so this past Monday I heard him pull up and start yelling to bring a camera. When I went to see what the ruckus was all about he had his flashlight pointing to the bottom of our steps and there it was, a tarantula. Where it came from I have no idea. Oh by the way tarantula's don't like to be poked with a stick. Don't worry Robert scooped it up into a bucket and put it safely into a bush in the empty lot by our condo.

Epic Burger Day!

So as you guys know Robert loves to grill and so he decided that last Saturday was going to be Epic Burger Day so we invited a bunch of friends over to partake in his enjoyment of grilling. Well the pictures tell you how it turned out. :)

Blog Pressure

My friends have been gently pressuring me into starting a blog for years now but I have always resisted. Until now I haven't really felt the need to have a blog, I have email to stay in touch and I have myspace (set on private) to see what my friends are up to.

Heidi finally was able to change my mind about blogging. She mentioned the other day that there are companies out there that will publish and bind your blogs. I am so excited because I never write in a journal and I'm not very good at scrapbooking so my poor kids wont have any memories of there parents life before they came along. So having a blog is perfect, now I will have journal records and pictures that I can have published at the end of each year!! Thank you Heidi! :)
